It says on my CV that I’m a copywriter, but what does that mean? Well, copywriting is a term used to describe the written or spoken word in all forms of advertising from press releases and posters to TV commercials and corporate films. Sounds a bit serious doesn’t it?
Essentially it’s my job to communicate what you need to say to promote your business or sell your product. Of course that doesn’t mean that I’m suddenly an expert in your company, how could I know more about it than you do? What it does mean is that I can help you to say what you need to say in the allotted time and space.
But capturing your message isn’t always about words, it might be a series of images or a song because in the lyrics of the lovely Alison Krauss sometimes ‘you say it best when you say nothing at all’.
The most important thing that I do is listen, you bring your expertise, I’ll bring my experience (remembering of course to leave my ego at the door) and between us we’ll find the way that’s right for you.
